Ball Screws
When Ball Screws reach their rolling fatigue life, scaly particles start to separate from the surface of the raceways and balls. This phenomenon is called "flaking".
In some cases, they suffer premature flaking or abnormal damage that may lead to machine failure. The cause of the problem includes careless handling, excessive misalignment, insufficient lubrication and contamination.
The cause can also be a combination of these. However, it is possible to prevent reoccurring failures by making a thorough and complete investigation into a prematurely failed product, its handling methods, installation processes, maintenance history and any operating environment history. All of these factors help to determine the possible cause and countermeasures for future occurrences.
