20 Years of Service at the Kunshan Plant in China
NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Toshihiro Uchiyama) held a ceremony on April 28, 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kunshan NSK Co., Ltd. (Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province), its branch in China.
Approximately 100 guests attended the ceremony, including customers and people from the community. Hiromasa Orito, Head of China operations, opened the ceremony by thanking guests for their help in the successful expansion of NSK's business in China. Then, CEO Pinghai Yang reviewed the 20-year history of Kunshan NSK, the growing market in China and the expanding scale of business over the past 20 years, vowing to make further developments in the future.
In 1995 a joint venture between Guizhou Rainbow Bearing Co. Ltd. and Nichimen Co., Ltd. resulted in the establishment of the Kunshan NSK Rainbow Hill Co. Ltd. (now Kunshan NSK Co., Ltd.) for the manufacture and sales of industrial machinery bearings, resulting in the first production site in China for NSK.
- Official operation begins in 1997.
- Second building added in 2002; third building in 2004.
NSK began exporting bearings to China in the 1960s, actively engaging in technical information exchanges and receiving trainees. To meet with the demand in the Chinese market for high-quality bearings, Kunshan NSK was established to gain a business foothold there. Since then, the number of operational locations has been expanded to meet industrial growth in China, with a current total of 12 production locations, one technology center, and 18 sales branches, all geared to speedily meet the needs of local markets.
