NSK Europe is delighted to announce that NSK Bearings Polska S.A has won the ‘Employer - Organiser of Safe Work’ competition organised by the Polish National Labor Inspectorate.

The prize, which is now in its 31st year, is a prestigious competition that aims to recognise employers who stand out from the crowd thanks to the special attention they pay to occupational health and safety. It is awarded by The National Labor Inspectorate, the Polish authority for supervision and control over compliance with labor law, in particular the regulations and principles of occupational health and safety.

When deciding how to award the prize, the Competition Commission takes into account not only formal compliance with regulations, but also real-world actions taken to improve employee safety. This might include, but is certainly not limited to, the implementation of innovative solutions, in-depth employee training schemes, and the fostering of a safe workplace culture.

NSK Polska’s main production facility is located in Kielce, a town in South Central Poland, around 110 miles (180km) south of the capital Warsaw. The 286,000sqm site, which was originally founded as a glass factory all the way back in 1897, is home to more than 1200 staff.

Those workers produce in excess of 15 million ball bearing units per month, as well as an additional 30,000 cylindrical roller bearings. The components end up becoming integral parts of everything from transmission systems to washing machines to alternators and are purchased by household name multinational companies across a range of different industries.

Andrzej Gajdziński, NSK’s Plant Director for the Kielce facility, was delighted with the award. ‘Receiving this prestigious prize is a great honour for us,’ he said. ‘We’ve spent many years working hard to improve our safety record here in Kielce and this feels like the culmination of that process. We won’t be resting on our laurels however, we will use this recognition as motivation to do even better, to increase our efforts to care for our employees and to keep their welfare as a top priority.’

The prize itself was presented by the Chief Labour Inspector, Marcin Stanecki, at a ceremony held on 27 November 2024 in the halls of the Royal Castle in Warsaw. NSK Polska was awarded first place for the entire Świętokrzyskie region, which is home to the Kielce plant, and was the only employer from the region to be included in the nationwide Golden List of Employers.
