Bearing Gifts
Last week we sent you an email expanding on some of the sectors NSK supplies products for. This week we want to take a closer look at some of those products.
Since our founding well over a century ago, we’ve established a rich history of engineering excellence which is reflected in the vast array of components we manufacture today.
Bearings
At the heart of NSK’s product portfolio lies our range of bearings. We provide many different types, all tailored to different environments, conditions and applications.
Deep Groove Ball Bearings
Deep Groove Ball Bearings are what probably comes to mind when you picture a bearing.
They are the most widely used bearing in the world and are valued for their versatility and simplicity.
NSK offers a full range of DGBBs and some key features include different cage types, high quality steel, advanced grease technology, patented seals and super finished raceways.
Angular Contact Ball Bearings
What sets Angular Contact Ball Bearings apart is that they have a contact angle that allows them to handle significant axial loads in one direction at the same time as radial loads.
NSK offers these bearings in various designs, including single-row and multi-row configurations, allowing for superior performance in high-speed applications, such as machine tool spindles and automotive engines.
Cylindrical Roller Bearings
As the name suggests, roller bearings contain rollers rather than balls. Rollers offer a larger contact area, meaning roller bearings can handle far greater loads.
NSK’s cylindrical roller bearings are used in demanding applications, such as heavy machinery, automotive transmissions, and railways, where high load-carrying capacity and rigidity are critical.
Spherical Roller Bearings
Spherical Roller Bearings have an even greater surface area than their cylindrical cousins, with their barrel-shaped rollers allowing them to handle even higher loads.
NSK’s offering is suitable for equipment facing large radial loads, heavy loads, and impact loads.
Examples include mining equipment, gearboxes, air preheaters, extruders, centrifugal separators and machinery for the construction, steelmaking and papermaking sectors.
Super Precision Bearings
Manufactured in Newark, England, NSK’s Super Precision Bearings offer a step up in performance with specialised materials and manufacturing accuracy.
These improvements provide various benefits, including longer life, higher speeds, improved equipment precision, and more.
Super Precision Bearings come as ball bearings, roller bearings and ball screw support bearings, each offering unique advantages for certain applications.
Bearing Units
NSK offers a wide range of bearings units, including the RHP Self-Lube range of self-lubricating units. The range consists of Self-Lube itself, Silver-Lube, Life-Lube and Molded-Oil units.
Each comes with two basic components, the insert and the housing, and consists of a sealed single-row ball bearing with spherical outside diameter and an extended inner ring mounted in a pillow block or flanged housing.
This is far from a complete list of all the different bearings we offer, so if you want to find out more about self-aligning ball bearings, thrust ball bearings, tapered roller bearings, plummer blocks or any number of others, be sure to check out the Products section of the NSK Europe website.
Linear Motion
On top of NSK’s extensive range of bearings, we also offer a variety of linear motion products essential for applications requiring precise linear movement.
This includes linear motion systems include linear guides, ball screws, and linear actuators.
NSK is actually the world’s largest manufacturer of ball screws, with our components found in machine tools, injection moulding machines, and general machinery as well as in special environments, such as semi-conductor and LCD production equipment.
Automotive Products
NSK plays a pivotal role driving the automotive industry, providing a range of products for both OEM and aftermarket customers.
This includes engine parts, wheel hub units and clutch release bearings, all of which are designed to enhance both vehicle performance and safety.
As the industry moves towards electrification, we are also at the forefront of developing solutions that address the needs of electric and hybrid vehicles, contributing to a sustainable automotive future.
