Introduction
A customer was experiencing repeated bearing failures in conveyor rollers on the Main Make-Up conveyor within a bakery. They were changing approximately 36 bearings annually and bearing failures were taking place at about 6 week intervals. Investigations by NSK showed the failures were caused by the ingress of water and hard particulates. NSK recommended to replace the standard bearings with NSK Molded-Oil bearings. A trial was implemented and since commissioning, no failure have occurred in 2 years, resulting in a significant cost saving.
