Appearing for the first time in Europe, a motorised stretcher assistance robot will provide the display’s centrepiece. Further exhibits at our booth (B16, Hall 9) will include an actuator for regenerative and cell medicine applications that offers ultra-low particle emission and decontamination resistance. NSK Bearings Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (NBMT) Conducts Tree Planting Activity with 300 Employees! The NSK Group carries out initiatives tailored to regional characteristics. On September 6th, 300 NBMT employees participated in a tree planting activity with 125 teachers and students at Ban Bung Toei School in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This activity aims to raise employee awareness about global warming prevention and carbon neutrality efforts, while also contributing to the local community. Ban Bung Toei School is located in one of Thailand's major forest areas and focuses on environmental education. Through this activity, NBMT not only heightened environmental awareness among its employees but also created an opportunity to convey the importance of environmental conservation to students. After the activity, employees stayed at the nearby Khao Yai National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Experiencing the rich natural environment deepened their understanding of the importance of environmental protection. NBMT plans to continue this activity annually, deepening ties with the local community while aiming to achieve carbon neutrality. It’s a very common problem, particularly in applications like electric motors, and one you may well have encountered in your own business. NSK in load ratings breakthrough In a world first, NSK has introduced a new method of accurately predicting the lifespan of rolling bearings based on their size and the amount of non-metallic inclusions in the steel the bearings are made from. Going forward, NSK’s Angular Contact Ball Bearings, Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Deep Groove Ball Bearings and Tapered Roller Bearings will all see their lifespans increased, potentially even doubled, by this optimisation of basic dynamic load ratings. NSK’s own internal research has shown that the composition and quality of bearing steel, in particular the proportion of the steel which is made up of non-metallic impurities, has a huge impact on a bearing’s service life. Our engineers realised that an evaluation method based on fracture mechanics (a field of mechanics concerned with the study of the propagation of cracks in materials) could provide a unique insight into the lifespan of the bearings.   NSK worked with Kyushu University in Japan to develop a quantitative evaluation method that could determine which factors influenced the process of crack propagation in a material, and to what extent. Notably, by combining the new method with an ultrasonic inspection technique that scans the non-metallic inclusions in a large volume of steel, NSK discovered it could predict the life of its bearings with much higher accuracy.
