NSK's Approach : Efficient Use of Resources in All Areas of Business Activity
The NSK Group is working on reducing, reusing, and recycling (the 3Rs) to do its part in building recycling-oriented societies around the world. The Group's development and design divisions strive to develop products that can be produced without wasting raw materials and that can be easily recycled when disposed after use. At the manufacturing stage, the Group attempts to reduce the generation of waste by reconsidering machining conditions and also works to recycle waste that is generated, aiming to achieve “zero emissions” in terms of landfill disposal.

Initiatives at Plants
Many resources are used in the process of manufacturing products. The NSK Group aims to protect the global environment by further reducing its total consumption of resources through the pursuit of more efficient use in the production process.
Zero Emissions
The NSK Group is working on reducing, reusing, and recycling (the 3Rs), aiming to achieve “zero emissions,” which means reducing its landfill disposal to as close to zero as possible. And the Group defines zero emissions as having a “landfill disposal rate of no more than one percent” and is working aggressively toward maintaining this goal level.
Efficient Use of Resources
The NSK Group is making progress on the efficient use of materials and on reducing resource waste.
Waste Management
In Japan, in response to the large-scale illegal dumping that has become a social problem, the Waste Disposal and Public Cleansing Law requires that businesses discharging waste manage and verify the adequacy of the whole disposal process, not allowing unsatisfactory conduct such as illegal dumping. Therefore, the NSK Group will continue to promote initiatives aimed at even higher levels of management, while deepening cooperation with waste contractors.

Reduced Packaging
The NSK Group is vigorously promoting the 3Rs for the packaging used in logistics. The Group carefully categorizes used packaging materials for reuse in packaging. The plastic bands and containers used to fix products to their pallets are already being recycled.
